5.0 out of 5 stars: An essential part of my daily practice

I met Bruce when I found his alternative vocal training site online and began working with him as a vocal coach two years ago. I had been singing in bands for over 20 years but I was always “the guitarist who sings a bit” rather than a “singer who plays guitar.” I finally wanted to explore my voice as an instrument like I had done with the guitar. Bruce’s teaching techniques opened up a voice inside myself that now shocks me every day because of how powerful and musical it has become, I never dreamed I had such a voice to be uncovered! I am so grateful to Bruce and his methods as now I can healthily sing all night long. I’ve been getting many compliments on my voice which never happened before in my career. When I went through “The Singer’s Pocketbook” I messaged Bruce and told him this isn’t a just a pocketbook, this is a detailed presentation of so many of the fundamentals we had focused on in the last couple of years. I use the book everyday to go through the warmup exercises to get my mind and body ready for healthy singing. It’s an incredible reference book for realizing your potential as a healthy, powerful singer and creating a simple but effective daily practice.

5.0 out of 5 stars: The techniques in this book transformed my voice

This book encapsulates the essentials to building and nurturing a healthy and confident singing voice. My voice was slowly eroded from years of GERD, eventually leading to Muscle Tension Dysphonia. I used to tell my bandmates “let’s enjoy the days we have because I don’t know how many more I have left.” That all changed when I started vocal lessons with Bruce. 4 years later, my voice is better than I remember. My band backs this as well. This book is THE toolkit for proper care to prepare your voice before singing and to expand your range beyond what you thought you were capable of. I do the practices outlined in this book daily and can proudly say I feel I have beat MTD and am very excited about what the next years will bring as I can now confidently share my voice and songs with others. If you feel you are losing the voice you once had, this is the book that can restore it and beyond. If you feel you have more vocal potential, this is the book that will unlock it.

5.0 out of 5 stars: Every Singer Should Read This Book!

No matter what genre of vocalist you are, you’re going to find something new and game-changing in this book to apply to what you do. After reading numerous books on singing, I’ve yet to find Bruce’s unique approach anywhere else. He starts by showing you how to strengthen the parts of your anatomy that facilitate singing and breathing, then provides the exercises that help to balance and EQ your full-throated voice and falsetto so you’re able to consistently deliver the cleanest, strongest version of your sound. It’s not an overstatement to write that there is a B.B. (Before Bruce) and A.B. (After Bruce) timeline in my 30-year journey as a singer, the improvement in my abilities is so dramatic. What also sets this book apart is the videos he has included to give you an added reference to better articulate or demonstrate his points. As any serious singer knows, this discipline is a continued process of learning and incremental gains over years. This book broke a few things wide open for me and was the breakthrough I needed to take my singing to the next level. Read it and keep it close by on your digital shelf as you’ll likely reference it often, it’s that good.
